But before you set off, don’t forget to spend a little time getting your caravan ready for the caravanning season ahead after the winter break – both in terms of safety and looking after your Caravan Home.  Green Flag, the vehicle breakdown cover providers have put together a checklist to help you make sure your Caravan is on the right track.

Safety checks for your caravan:

  • Tow bar – check the condition and operation of your tow bar – and lubricate if necessary.
  • Tyres – check the condition of the caravan’s tyres and replace if damaged, cracked or worn.
  • Lights– make sure all rear lights on your caravan are working correctly before setting off.
  • Number plate– make sure the number plate on your caravan is intact. Don’t forget to change the number plate if you have bought a new car recently.
  • Window seals – replace any rubber window seals that look perished.
  • Exterior – clean the caravan body thoroughly with a car shampoo and protect with polish or wax.
  • Interior – vacuum carpets, curtains and upholstery. Wipe walls, ceilings, fixtures and fittings with anti-bacterial solution. Leave windows ajar for a few hours on a warm, breezy day to air through. Test to ensure that all kitchen appliances and internal electrics are working correctly.

Metal Sheds with Floors

Sheds come in all shapes and sizes so if you are in the process of buying a new garden shed, they are many options to choose from.  So why is it important to look for metal sheds with floors?

Depending on the make of the shed they can be made from a variety of materials, but most commonly either wood, plastic or metal is used and this affects the quality and weight of the shed unit.  Although plastic and wooden sheds are very common, they are usually lightweight and can easily be lifted and moved around.  This affects the security of the storage unit, which is why many people opt for a metal garden shed.  Metal garden sheds vary in design, but can be manufactured using galvanised steel panels, like the Asgard Shed range.

So this is why it is important to ensure your garden shed not only provides shelter and protection of your property from the elements, it also provides security from theft.  You can improve on security by looking for garden sheds with floors.  Garden sheds with integrated floors means that the unit is robust and is difficult to break into as a thief wont be able to simply lift the shed and crawl underneath.

The integrated metal floor also means that the unit can be secured down into the ground by either bolting it down or using ground anchors to the concrete floor below.  Fixing the shed base to the ground offers the highest level of protection as it means the shed itself cannot be lifted or moved around or broken into easily.  We recommend choosing a metal garden shed with an integrated floor, such as the Asgard Centurion Shed for maximum security for your garden.

W. from Edinburgh who recently ordered a bike storage unit from Asgard.

Read on to see what he thought about his new unit….

“I’m delighted with my Access bike store.  Order to delivery time was the quoted 3 weeks, which left me ample time to prepare a solid foundation for the unit.  It was delivered exactly when arranged, and the guys gave me useful assembly tips.

Assembly was pretty straightforward after carefully reading the instructions, but 2 people are essential, e.g. for lifting the roof into position, and for generally holding panels upright whilst the other person inserts the screws.  The precise alignment of the lock location holes (on the roof and front doors) by the insertion of the supplied shims underneath the unit was quite fiddly and took some time to get just right.  In addition, the M5 screws to fit the lock shrouds to the unit were unusually tight, this could have been due to paint on the internal threads of the inserts on the shrouds.

The green colour blends in very well in my garden, and if the bikes are stored in the right order, the unit accommodates 2 adult bikes and 3 kids bikes.
