A new shocking story of garden theft in Hexham has just come into the news spotlight. £40,000 worth of items has been stolen from gardens, shed and garages around the Hexham area of Northumberland since April 2012. That is a lot of stuff! It was said that local thieves have been targeting their neighbours. Items such as power tools, gardening equipment and lawnmowers have been among the haul stolen.
One man questioned had £ 1,000 worth of gardening equipment stolen,
“I put extra locks on the shed, but they came back and stole the equipment again,” the Hexham resident said.
“Just recently they came back again and this time took off the door hinges to get in because I had so many locks on”.
